The Living Line for Jeff Cavins

This mixed media drawing is a visual meditation on salvation history — the idea that Scripture is not separate stories, but one continuous thread moving through time. A single line of light travels through the piece, connecting symbols that represent moments where God reveals Himself: creation, covenant, the law, the kingdom, the cross, and the living presence of the Church.
The thread never breaks, showing that each moment builds upon the one before it, all leading toward fulfillment and continuing beyond the page. The artwork is intentionally simple and restrained — drawn in sepia tones with minimal watercolor — so the focus remains on movement, continuity, and light rather than spectacle. The unfinished scroll at the bottom represents that the story is still unfolding, and that we are living inside it.
Why I Made It for Jeff Cavins: I created this piece for Jeff Cavins because his teaching has helped so many people see the Bible as one unified story rather than isolated events. His work has given people a way to understand how everything connects — from Genesis to Christ and into our lives today. This drawing is my visual response to that idea. Instead of a portrait, I wanted to honor the message he shares: that Scripture is alive, connected, and meant to be walked through, not just studied. The thread of light represents the way God moves through history — quietly, consistently, and intentionally — which reflects the way Jeff teaches people to see Scripture as something living and active rather than distant or complicated. I made this piece as a thank-you — not just to a teacher, but to someone who helps people recognize that they are part of the story too.
The accompanying song for this mixed media artwork was created and curated by the artist. The artist used ambient tones and harmonies that enhance the experience of the mixed media piece. The music serves as an added layer of expression—modern, immersive, and fully aligned with the artist’s vision. We hope you enjoy it!
