Alligator Snapping Turtle

Alligator Snapping Turtles are the largest freshwater turtle species in America, and among the largest in the world! These gargantuan amphibians could be a toe-biting hazard in nearly any body of water in Louisiana, as well as most of the Southern United States, and are beloved for their stark Jurassic appearance. 

With their rugged spiny shells and a bite force of over 1000 pounds, these tough guys definitely command some attention.
